Green Factory | Environmental Protection Measures for Casting Blast Furnaces in Jinsteel Foundry

Jinsteel Casting currently has one 380m³ casting blast furnace and four centrifugal ductile iron pipe production lines, with an annual output of 400,000 tons of ductile iron pipes of various specifications and models such as DN100-DN2600.


1. Whole plant production facilities


The casting blast furnace and casting pipe workshop of Jinsteel Casting are constructed in different areas. The blast furnace is the No. 5 blast furnace in the blast furnace group of the Jingang Holding Group Park, covering an area of 7.5 hectares; the casting pipe workshop is located on the north side of the Jinsteel Casting Holding Group, covering an area of 300 mu.


The raw and auxiliary fuels such as pellet ore, lump ore, coke, and pulverized coal required for the 380m³ casting blast furnace are stored in the existing coke lump ore shed and blast furnace coal injection shed of the Jingang Holding Group. The sintered ore is provided by the sintering machine of the Jingang Holding Group and directly transported to the ore trough via a tubular belt conveyor. The slag is transported to the environmental protection building materials company through a belt corridor for disposal.



All the molten iron required for the casting pipe workshop is transported by a special molten iron tank truck according to the specified route.



The pipe casting workshop currently has 6 10t/h fully enclosed medium frequency furnaces, 4 sets of fully automatic sand mixing core making machines, 5 water-cooled centrifugal pipe casting machines, 2 hot mold centrifugal pipe casting machines, 1 70-meter-long continuous annealing furnace and 2 heat storage trolley horizontal annealing furnaces, and 4 intelligent finishing lines.



2. Ultra-low emission transformation and production monitoring and supervision


Since the implementation of the ultra-low emission transformation of the blast furnace process of Jinsteel Casting Industry and the upgrading of the pipe casting workshop, the cumulative environmental protection investment has exceeded 100 million yuan.



1), Blast furnace area


By controlling the sulfur content of raw materials and fuels, the source reduction of atmospheric pollutants is achieved. In order to ensure that the SO₂ of the end gas users meets the standards for a long time, the fixed bed desulfurization flue gas purification process is implemented for the hot blast furnace, and the main emission outlets, blast furnace ore troughs, and iron-making yards are dusted with high-efficiency bag dust collectors.



In order to effectively control the unorganized emission of particulate matter and carbon monoxide, Jinsteel Casting Industry has closed and renovated the blast furnace trough, iron-casting yard, iron ditch and slag ditch to ensure that there is no visible smoke and dust escaping during the operation process. An equalized pressure gas recovery pipeline and supporting valves are added next to the equalized pressure release system on the top of the blast furnace to achieve full recovery of the equalized pressure release gas.




2) Casting pipe workshop


In order to effectively supervise the emission of pollutants in the factory area, Jinsteel Casting Industry has carried out ultra-low transformation of online facilities such as the blast furnace trough, blast furnace iron-casting yard, and exhaust pipe of the spraying production line, and installed a distributed control system for real-time monitoring and historical tracing. At the same time, high-definition video monitoring facilities are installed at the entrance and exit of the material yard, blast furnace trough and other dust-prone points. TSP and VOC concentration monitoring equipment are arranged around the main dust-producing points in the production process and material transportation links, as well as the core making and spraying processes. Air quality monitoring microstations are set up in the workshop areas such as the material storage shed, blast furnace, and the roads within the factory.




Through the linkage of the above-mentioned monitoring and surveillance facilities with the parameters of the production facilities, the centralized intelligent control of production and environmental protection in the blast furnace area and casting pipe workshop is realized. A comprehensive centralized control mode of "production + environmental protection" has been formed, which has taken the informatization and intelligentization of the whole factory to a new level.
